Return to The EFL Playhouse Fingerplays and Action Rhymes
Let's go to sleep, the caterpillars said, (Wiggle fingers.)
As they tucked themselves into their cocoon beds. (Make a fist.)
They will awaken by and by,
And each one will be a lovely butterfly. (Open hand one finger at a time.)
- Introduce terms "caterpillar," "cocoon" and "butterfly" through pictures or realia.
- Have children sequence pictures or in their natural order.
- Create a butterfly by dripping various colors of paint on one half of a white sheet of paper, then folding in half. After paint dries, cut in shape of butterfly and add wiggly eyes.
