This is mama, kind and dear. (Point to thumb.)

This is papa, standing near. (Point to pointer finger.)

This is brother, see how tall! (Point to middle finger.)

This is sister, not so tall. (Point to ring finger.)

This is baby, sweet and small. (Point to little finger.)

These the family one and all! (Wiggle all fingers.)

Teaching Tips

Print out pictures of families from the Internet or cut pictures of families out of magazines. Discuss how families are alike and how they are different.
Brainstorm a list of family vocabulary. After students ist the words they can think of, introduce and add terms they may not know (aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, cousin, ancestor, descendent, grandchild, etc.).
Have students draw or bring in family pictures and take turns telling about their families.
