The EFL Playhouse: All By Myself

There are things that I can do
     All by myself.

I can comb my hair and tie my shoes
     All by myself.

I can bath and brush my teeth
     All by myself.

I can stretch and touch my feet
     All by myself.

I can wash my hands and face
     All by myself.

I can even put the toys in place (crayons away / book away / chair in place / etc.)
     All by myself.

Teaching Tips:

Begin by reviewing the concepts of "can" and "can't." Encourage children to list things they can do.
Name off various activities. ("Get dressed." "Brush your teeth." "Drive a car." etc.) Direct children to stand up if they can do the named activity and sit down if they can't.
Introduce the rhyme one couplet at a time. Allow students to make up motions to go with each couplet.
Consider using rhyme as a lead-in to clean-up time.
